Getting started with SwiftlyMCP

Connect your WordPress site to Claude, ChatGPT, or Cursor in under two minutes. This guide walks you through installation, connection, and your first commands.

1. Install the plugin

Install the SiteRoyal plugin on your WordPress site. You can do this from your WordPress admin dashboard.

  1. 1Go to Plugins > Add New in your WordPress admin.
  2. 2Search for "SiteRoyal".
  3. 3Click Install Now, then Activate.

Alternatively, enter your site URL on our Get Started page and we'll generate a direct install link for you.

2. Add the MCP server URL

Copy the SwiftlyMCP server URL and add it to your AI client. The URL is the same for all sites — your site is identified during the authorization step.

3. Authorize your site

Once the MCP server is added to your AI client, ask it to connect your WordPress site. The AI will trigger the authorization flow.

  1. 1Tell your AI: "Connect my WordPress site at example.com".
  2. 2SwiftlyMCP will return an authorization link.
  3. 3Click the link — it opens your WordPress admin.
  4. 4Approve the connection in WordPress.
  5. 5Done! Your AI can now manage your site.
Note:You must be logged in as a WordPress administrator to authorize the connection. Editors and lower roles are blocked for security.

Cache flush, cron jobs, search-replace, maintenance mode, plugin management.

5. Safety & security

SwiftlyMCP is designed with multiple layers of protection so you can confidently let AI manage your site.

  1. 1Admin-only access — editors and below are blocked.
  2. 2Draft by default — new content is created as drafts, never published directly.
  3. 3Trash, not delete — destructive actions move items to trash, never permanently delete.
  4. 4Dry-run preview — bulk operations show a preview before executing.
  5. 5Full audit log — every AI action is logged with tool name, result, and timestamp.
  6. 6AES-256-GCM encryption — credentials are encrypted at rest.
  7. 7Rate limiting — 30 requests per minute per user.
  8. 8Application Passwords — uses WordPress's built-in auth system, never stores your login.

6. Disconnecting

You can disconnect your site at any time from the SiteRoyal settings page in your WordPress admin.

  1. 1Go to SiteRoyal in your WordPress admin sidebar.
  2. 2Click "Disconnect" in the connection status section.
  3. 3This revokes the Application Password and removes stored credentials.
  4. 4You can reconnect anytime by going through the authorization flow again.
